November 2020 P&C General Meeting Review.

It was once again great to see so many folks join us on line in Google Meet for the November update and a big Thanks to Colin for Chairing the meeting in Mark’s absence!

PRINCIPALS REPORT

Paul informed us that thankfully HSC exams are almost concluded with no disruptions and that Week 6-8 are exam periods for the rest of the School. The P&C wishes the boys all Good Luck!

Year 7 are on School Camp at present. It was also brilliant to hear that most of the capital work is complete with the exception of one Science lab where some faulty electrics need to be fixed. The Staff Common room has been painted and a small deck and glass doors added. The work to move the kitchen backwards will complete over the Christmas break.

The re spec COLA project has gone out to tender and will hopefully also be started in January. Mr James is retiring after 28 years at the school and the merit selection will begin shortly to replace him. Year 10 formal celebrations are problematic due to COVID restrictions as is Presentation Day which will likely be on line.NEw shorts with elastic waist being made at present on sale in Jan 2021.

TREASURER and CANTEEN REPORT.

Revenue of $268k and net profit of $94k for October. Current bank balance is $346k with existing Shark tank pledges there will be $37k for spending. This will increase to $78k once the P&C levey is transferred.

Capital expenditure for the Canteen is being finalised with quotes in approx $9300 Hoping to instal by year end. Second hand items not considered due to lack of warranty.

FUNDRAISING

Possible options to target last Sunday in Feb or March 2021 Simon arranging organising committee.

Carlos presented to us around the Movember Fund raising Year 12 leaders are doing to raise awareness of Mental Health issues at school and society in general especially due to COVID. The boys have requested a replacement full time counsellor but the DOE has a critical shortage currently. The boys are holding a sausage sizzle to raise funds for Movember and the P&C pledges $1000 to cover costs of food and remainder to be donated to the cause. HALL FORECOURT UPDATE

Survey of the teachers and the boys to be incorporated into a new brief. The architect group will meet on Sat 28th November to discuss concept designs. Survey priorities were lack of seating,play space, amd wet weather areas along with converting the hall forecourt into a learning space. Teacher provided a wishlist including improvements to areas like staff toilets.

OTHER BUSINESS

Sue had presented at teacher staff meeting on how staff can apply to P&C for funding and also thanked all those who helped to make the World teachers Day morning Tea such a success.

Bally Boys is supported by the RAISE program and 20 mentors and students attended the recent event with Zali Steggall presenting their certificates of completion.
