2022 Kick Off - First P&C General Meeting
We were glad to see everyone back for the first General Meeting of the year, even if it was through a computer screen this time.
Principal’s update
Paul welcomed new year 7 parents and ran us through the latest school updates, including COVID measures, distribution of RAT tests and the recent upgrades to the Year 7 playground.
He also acknowledged the school achieved some amazing HSC results in difficult circumstances. Bally ranked 2nd of all comprehensive schools in the state. A high level of boys achieved band 6 results across all English levels, Chemistry, Business Studies, Geography, Maths, Modern History to name a few, with an average of 24% of students in this band versus 5% for comprehensive schools. Paul thanked the teachers for their efforts in achieving these results.
President’s update
Colin gave us an overview of the amazing milestones achieved by the P&C in 2021, such as the lower playground upgrade, the painting of eight school classrooms, the gardening working bee, the canteen running despite COVID-19 challenges, the trivia planning, and all the work that behind the Northern Beaches tunnel submission.
There are various ways to become involved in the P&C, from completing the Skills Survey, the year 7 contact form, or joining the P&C as a member for an annual fee of only $5. Current members can vote until the AGM (8 March).
Current committee members positions become vacant at the AGM. Please email secretary@ballyboys.org to nominate. We are particularly looking for any of these roles:
Vacancies for 2022 - Canteen co-ordinator, Assistant Treasurer, Communications co-ordinator and an Auditor due to recent departures. Also, a qualified accountant is urgently required to undertake the audit for 2021.
The next P&C meeting is the AGM followed by the general meeting on Tuesday 8 March 2022 at 7.30pm. Format to be advised. All current Committee members retire at this meeting and an election will be held for each position.
